The Mingo's Newse-mail

    April 2010

We hope that you all had a wonderful Easter time celebrating the resurrection of our Lord!  It is because of His resurrection that our faith, our preaching and our work in the Lord is not in vain. (I Co.15)
Thank you for your faithful prayers for our family and ministry here in Nicaragua.  We continue to see God’s hand at work in our lives as well as the lives of those we work with.
Our 2010 youth camp was such an encouragement to us as well as to the youth. We had 85 campers plus a staff of more than 30, many of which are young people that we have been working with this past year in leadership training.  It was such a blessing to see them working and serving each other and the Lord!
The classes at the Bible Institute in Leon and Masaya continue to be a challenge and blessing as Adrian teaches Hermeneutics to 33 students.  It is wonderful to see them get more and more involved each week and then go back to their churches and teach what they have learned to the people in their congregations.
Adrian also continues to work with the young people in San Benito, training and
discipling the leaders there to work with the youth in their communities.   We now have 11 young people that make up the youth leadership in the three churches. Please pray for them as they learn to develop a youth program for their peers reaching them with the gospel and then discipling them so that they in turn can reach others.
The first week of March Adrian had the opportunity to be the guest speaker at Word of Life Camp in Panama for a week.  It was a great time of fellowship with old friends as well as a wonderful time around the Word.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.” III Jn.4  Keila recently had the opportunity to travel for two weeks here in Nicaragua with a drama group from Word of Life Mexico called “Born Again to a Living Hope”. They were able to present the drama in several schools and churches.  More than 6500 people heard the gospel presentation.  This drama is the true story of a young Argentine couple who got involved in drugs and contracted AIDS.  Before they died they wrote a book telling their testimony with the sole purpose of warning other young people of the danger of AIDS and sharing the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Keila will be travelling around Nicaragua this year with the Word of Life Nicaragua drama team sharing this story of how God can change a tragedy into triumph through faith in Christ.  This time next year she is planning on attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Argentina.  Pray for the drama team as they travel and share the gospel as well as the necessary funding for her to go to Argentina.  She is also discipling 2 young girls from the youth group at our local church.  This is a new experience and a challenging one but she is enjoying it and growing as well.Noelia and Mickey are also involved in ministry as leaders of AWANA in our local church and are enjoying their interaction with the younger kids, teaching them God’s word through memorization etc.We know that being involved in ministry does not necessarily mean spiritual maturity.  They are still kids and will act like kids, but we also know that being exposed to ministry and the Word of God will give them a more personal focus and we praise God for these opportunities.

Cheryl continues to homeschool the kids as well as teach a weekly women’s Bible study.  The group has grown from an average of 15 to 23.  It is a challenge each week to study and guide the group in discussion.  The group is studying “Be Free” by Beth Moore and it has been a blessing to all involved, including some husbands who are studying the book with their wives at home.  Cheryl also has the privilege of discipling three young girls from the youth group at our church.  It has been fun to get involved with the youth again in a more direct way.
We are also teaching the Young Married’s Sunday School class at our local church here in Managua and enjoying getting to know many of the couples in a more informal setting.
Thank you for your prayers regarding Adrian’s health.  He is doing well with his treatments.  He is now on week 9 and will have his viral load tested again in two weeks to see how it is responding to the treatment.  We are thankful that the side effects of the treatment have not been too severe.  Adrian has his injection on Thursday mornings and then is usually recuperating from that for about two days.  Some days are worse than others but we are relying on God’s grace and strength.

Once again we want to express our gratitude for your faithful prayers and financial support.  God is good, all the time and we have experienced this over and over again.  We are growing in our trust and faith and learning how to be content in Him, no matter the circumstances.

In His care,
Adrian & Cheryl Mingo & the gang
